About the event
I’m super excited for this program I’m playing in March for the Huntsville, AL chapter of the American Guild of Organists!!
This program celebrates the wonderful stained glass windows of First Baptist, Huntsville, with their imagery of the sun, earth, and cosmos, but also celebrates the history of space exploration that Huntsville was at the epicenter of and continues to be a home for many private rocket engineering firms.
1965 was a big step forward in space exploration for the U.S., as the first manned missions of the Gemini program (Gemini III) were conducted in March of that year, with IV, V, VI(a), and VII, occurring throughout the rest of the year. The Gemini program was designed to be a bridge between the Mercury and Apollo missions, primarily to test equipment and mission procedures in earth orbit and to train astronauts and ground crews for future Apollo Missions!!!
